Although there are lots of sites and companies who advertise "free" cell phone lookups, I don't believe free searches really exist. I have seen mention of directories where cell phone owners have the option to add their own numbers in exchange for access to the database, but surely the question you have to ask is why would owners of cell phones really want to do this? I certainly wouldn't want my phone number widely available to anyone. Obviously it might be worth trying these databases, but really what chance is there that the number you are looking for will be there?
The companies who sell access to cell lookup databases are buying this information themselves from the cell and telecoms companies, so they then charge us to access it. But at least we know - I guess? - that what we are looking for is guaranteed to be in their databases. Unlike any free directories.
I guess the real question is do you need to look up a number badly enough to pay for it? If so then the paid directories are at least a simple and professional way to get the information, and if you choose to use ones who use the ClickBank payment system they will refund your money if you are not happy with the service.
