Foie Gras protest at City Hall

Attention New York City! Say No to Foie Gras this Wednesday!

This Wednesday, join Farm Sanctuary and Council Member Tony Avella (D-Queens) for a press conference in support of legislation to prohibit the production of foie gras in New York State.

"Foie gras," French for fatty liver, is produced by force-feeding ducks until their livers become diseased and swell to 10 times their normal size. Legislation to stop this cruelty has been introduced in the New York State Legislature, sponsored by State Senator Frank Padavan (D-Queens) and Assemblyman Michael Benjamin (D-Bronx).

 

On Wednesday, Council Member Avella will announce that he is introducing a resolution into the New York City Council calling on the state legislature to pass this important bill.
