Car mileage can be dramatically improved with fuel efficient technologies. Learn about modern fuel injected engines, hybrid vehicles, and other fuel efficiency technologies
Why aren’t economy cars more economical? By Kevin Miller 10.05.2007 Volkswagen got its start in the US (and in the world) as a manufacturer of economical cars. As the original Beetle was replaced in the North American market by the Rabbit/Golf, that vehicle was known as an economical car; one that was relatively inexpensive to purchase and that got good fuel economy. While later, sportier versions of the Golf were available with 6-cylinder or turbocharged 4-cylinder engines, there was always... Read Full Story
Once again I picked up a neat little tidbit while listening to the Adam Carolla Radio Show . Apparently, most cars have this and I never even knew. If you find yourself in a car you’re unfamiliar with, whether it’s borrowed or a rental or what ever and you need to get gas you can usually tell which side the gas tank is on by looking at the gas gauge. There’s usually an arrow or it says right or left. As you can see from the image above my tank is on the right side. My car is less than a year... Read Full Story
"I have to get it over 90mph before I start to feel the wind load from high-speed driving." Recently, I shot a local picture of the original hybrid car, the Honda Insight . Eco Modder has pictures on their website of a modified, non-hybrid Honda Civic that gets up to 95 mpg. The 92 Civic CX, "Aeorcivic" was getting around 50 mpg pre-mod. It's not as handsome as the Insight, but it gets many eco points for ingenuity! I found it interesting that there's an estimated 2 - 3 mpg loss when driving... Read Full Story

http://www.scragged.com/articles/energy-conservation-in-india-and-in-china.aspx I recently came across this article in Scragged.com. The article talks about how India and China are moving in the same path taken by countries like US and Japan. It talks about our preference for personal transport and the increasing energy demand resulting out of it. The author then advocates fresh research on better, energy effecient automobiles. He lays particular emphasis on using hydrogen to fuel our... Read Full Story
As the old saying goes, "I'd rather have a hole in my head than..", pretty much sums up how we all feel about paying the gas prices today. How then are we going to feel when prices shoot up between $4 and $5 a gallon this summer...right at about the time when we might actually try to take the family for a little vacation. Coincidence? Hardly. As we speak, oil gurus the world over are plotting to add insult to injury (they don't feel they are making enough profit yet I imagine) to the... Read Full Story
