From Here to There

Madison thought I had a glass jar of "dirt" on my dining table. "It's a terrarium, Maddy", I said, "you don't know what a terrarium is?" With eyes of a child, full of wonderment, I gave her a quick definition of terrarium.wonderment eyes

So, yes, Maddy, it is a jar of "dirt", sort of.... but a purposeful jar of dirt. A decorative jar of dirt. A jar of dirt, nonetheless...

terrarium Nestled inside my cloche, I planted a tiny specimen of Hens and Chicks. There is a second plant, too, but I don't know what it is called. I hope they do well. We'll see....

Just an observation...I know that 99% of my readers shop for greeting cards at one time or another... have you noticed the placement of the cards? Grouped in birthdays - his and hers, children's, birth announcements, sympathy, anniversary, and wedding.... take a look at that again.... sympathy and wedding/anniversary cards are always right beside each other! Have you ever noticed that? What are the card guru's trying to tell us?

wedding and sympathy cards Take notice the next time you're in the greeting card section of your store. Let me know what you find out.

Bud Blogger Update! Several Sightings Reported!

Guess what I received in the mail today! A postcard from Bud Blogger! I've got the dogs on his trail and they've sent a few pictures. It seems our elusive Bud has been all of the world! I didn't realize he was an explorer. Here's the postcard I received from him:

monkey postcard The other side is postmarked "Madagascar". What?Madagascar's Giant Creatures Here, Bud is seen palling around with his friend Herbert T. Frog and his giant snail, Sammy. This photo was taken in the Land of the Giant Creatures, a very small island just off the coast of Madagascar. My sources tell me, these giant creatures are very tame and highly intelligent. When Sammy Snail gets tired, he and Herbert Frog trade places and Herbert becomes the carrier. Their lives are very simplistic and very slow paced. Bud was seen relaxing and hiding out a lot on this island.

Jungles of Ugandi Bud hopped a private jet to the jungles of Uganda. Looking for mountain grown coffee (it's the richest kind, you know), with the locals. He's captured in this photograph for a brief moment.

the Jungles of Ugandi This is another photo of Bud in the Uganda jungles. I hope he brought his mosquito repellent with him!

Next, he flew across the Atlantic Ocean to the city of brotherly love, Philadelphia, PA. There, he was taking a refresher course on the birth of our nation. Urban Legion says, this is the first Liberty Bell....

visiting the Liberty Bell in PA The locals say this bell came over on the Mayflower. Columbus would ring this bell when dinner was ready. I don't know if that is true or not, but if looks make any difference, this bell certainly looks that old!

Skipping across the good ol' USA, Bud found himself on the bare back of a bucking Bronco-Crow in Wyoming. Bud was challenged to ride the Crow in the city's Country Fair. Bud was the master of ceremonies and prize announcer, but decided to take on the challenge out of the goodness of his heart..... (plus he was offered $13.53 as a bonus!). Here he is atop the Bronco-Crow:

Bronco-Crow riding in Wyoming Go, Bud, go! Woo-Hoo! Ride 'em cowboy!

Wow, what do they feed those crows over there?! Look at the size of that thing!

misc 013 Bud was seen boozing it up at the Coo-Coo's Nest Saloon after the rodeo. The old guys in the saloon tell the story about the time Bud drank almost a whole can of beer! You know, 12 ounces is quite a bit for a man of his size. Whew!

As fast as Bud arrived in Wyoming, he was gone again! Lickity split! This time in Southern Mexico! He is doing a story for National Geographic. He is studying the lives of the cave dwelling insects. Here, we see Bud slowly descending into the cave...

Cave dwelling in Mexico I know, it does resemble a tree, but I'm assured it is not. Bud is not real fond of things that go bump in the night, so I know, once again, he did this out of the kindness of his heart. You know, for the hard working people over there at National Geographic. (I also heard he earned a whopping $11.10!).

Cave exploration in Mexico The next leg of his journey, found him in the jungles of Bolivia, South America. Bud refers to the jungles as "The Land of the Giant Botanicals". Looks like they have Giant Mushrooms, too!

The next time my trusty photographer spotted Bud, he was praying under the Sacred Pagoda in Tibet. We didn't want to bother him there, so we just snapped this photo and didn't ask any questions.

The Sacred Pagoda of Tibet Bud promises, we get the first print of the National Geographic.... hot off the presses! I can't wait to read about his travels! So, that's where you've been, Bud! We were wondering.

My photographer, Joe, left Tibet before Bud did (we think, anyway). Joe left his spare roll of film on the train. Rumor has it, Bud was seen relaxing somewhere in the hills of Kentucky, in a swing. If you see him... please call me (KV-5689) ASAP!

just a-swinging
