'Wonder Woman's Home Island of Themyscira Looks Like the Remote Mediterranean Destination of Our Dreams
If you, like us, enjoy a healthy slice of paradise, we've found your newest dream destination: Wonder Woman's idyllic home island of Themyscira. While it's been portrayed in varying fashions by multiple artists throughout the years, we just can't get over the breath-taking images we've glimpsed in recent days.
The moon-shaped island, home to a variety of impossibly green flora, more than one cascading waterfall, and gorgeous architecture built to fit the land's numerous creases and crannies like bodycon, rests on the Aegean Sea, smack between the coasts of Greece and modern-day Turkey. While the land was first introduced to us in the original Wonder Woman comics, 2017's film of the same name (in theaters June 2), appears to have breathed life into it like an EMT.
Here, in this paradise, live the Amazons, Wonder Woman's society of badass female leaders, fighters, and innovators. As the story goes, their weapons were more sophisticated, their methods of transportation superior, and their way of being more peaceful. They were, by all accounts, the perfect community, if there ever was one — with the home to boot.
Themyscira can be seen in the trailer below, though we won't get the full tour until the flick's theatrical release on June 2, 2017.
