Merger between Suez and Gaz de France

Back in February, 2006, French Prime minister Dominique de Villepin announced a pending merger of Suez and GDF. The merged company will be a worldwide producer and distributor of liquefied natural gas company. Since the French state owned 80% of Gaz de France, the merger needed to be approved by the state.
