Remember when “citizen of the world” Sen. Barack Obama’s “lost brother”, George Hussein Onyango Obama, was discovered living in a shanty in Kenya back in August by the Italian Vanity Fair? (Article reposted below.) Well, now the UK’s Times Online has found two more Obama relatives, Kenyan immigrants, living a bit closer to home — in Boston. Aunt Zeituni Onyango (aka ‘Auntie Zeituni’) and Uncle Omar have been living a short distance “from where the Democratic presidential candidate studied at Harvard,” James Bone, Bob Crilly and Ben McIntyre wrote today, October 30, 2008, in a detailed three-page article: Zeituni Onyango, the aunt so affectionately ... Before I became a victim of the Australian flu, I had been pretty busy with non-blog activities. Ever notice how Spring semester is ten times busier than Fall? Anyway, my institution always has an annual Faculty Symposium. We set aside a day for faculty to present some special interest subject--something they might be working on or we get together and do panel presentations. Some faculty bring their classes and we, usually, have a good time. This year I did two. I always feel I have to do something on Africa. Readers of this blog know that I take seriously any opportunity to expose students ... Read Full Story

This one is hard to write. There isn't much to go on, except a whole lot of speculation--a fertile field for political spin. As you recall, we have Hussein Onyango Obama returned from the WWII. The last post in this series, I really tried to contextualize the world to which he returned and the inability of any African man to succeed in colonial structures. Feeling the power, as my Tanzanian informants would have said, "coming down from the top", they had no power and no route to achieve a meaningful livelihood--no way to feel valued, no way to feel anything but disenfranchised. Returning vets ... Read Full Story

Settling in another part of Siaya, Hussein Onyango Obama marries a second wife and in 1936 Barack Hussein Obama, Sr. (President Obama's Father) is born. Soon after, Hussein Onyanga Obama heads off to World War II. I interviewed a few men in Tanzania back in 1986-87 that had, also, signed on to fight Vita vya Hitla (the War with Hitler, as it is called by Swahili speakers in east Africa). Most of my students seem surprised by this. I guess it just doesn't fit our stereotypes of the African victim. Like the men I interviewed, Hussein Onyango Obama ended up in Burma. The men ... It's getting hot in here.... Yep, the race to the White House is getting hotter and hotter. The latest comes courtesy of the Texas GOP which has issued a new video showing Barack Obama's half brother George Hussein Onyango, who is living in a shanty-town on the outskirts of Nairobi, Kenya. The Texas GOP is accusing Barack Obama of leaving his own family out to dry after reports surfaced that his half-brother George is living in a run-down hut in Kenya. The Republican Party of Texas released a Web video Friday seizing on the story, in response to Obama’s earlier ad mocking John McCain ... Read Full Story
Some guy buys a house up in Kempton, Indiana and learns that it was once owned by the grandfather of Barack Hussein Obama's grandmother, Ann Dunham, and suddenly thinks he's found America's next historical landmark. WISH-TV's Jim Shallow fell for the scam:Shawn Clements loves showing off the Dunham house, a 19th century farmhouse that he purchased in 2004 with the idea of preserving it so that he could live here. When a neighbor told him to...

TEL AVIV – President Barack Obama's father was abusive and hit at least one of his American wives, Obama's half-brother disclosed at a press conference in China today.
