Bush speaks to U.S. troops at Bagram Air Base in Afghanistan on Monday.TV station urges release of shoe-throwing journalist
An Iraqi TV reporter who threw his shoes at President Bush during a news conference remained in custody Monday, while judicial officials decided whether to charge him with assault.

Muntadhar al-Zaidi, a reporter for the TV channel Al-Baghdadia, faced testing for alcohol and drugs to determine his state of mind, said a government official, who requested anonymity.
At Sunday’s news conference, the journalist whipped off his shoes and hurled them at Bush during the president’s unannounced stop in Baghdad. The reporter called his shoe-throwing, a traditional insult in Arab culture, a "farewell kiss" to a "dog" who launched the 2003 invasion of Iraq.

What Is This Nonsense About The Iraq Guy Showing Shoes At Bush?

Many people are saying it shows how far Iraq has come because the journalist would have been executed if he had thrown it at Saddam. True. But you are incredibly delusional if you think he would not face execution today if he threw shoes at an Iraqi general. Read the news on how everyday citizens face executions and very harsh punishment in the muslim world, yes including in Iraq TODAY.

Also read how much "freedom" there is in Afghanistan where men and women are brutalised, killed for anything and everything today. How the Northern Alliance are far worse on the locals than the Talibans ever were.

Most importantly, that journalist may not be killed but it still does not in any way justify the hundreds of thousands people killed in Iraq as result of this war.
Buck Ofama: you mean like the Iraqi guy who threw the shoes? ;) Or all those hundreds of thousands protesting against Americans in Iraq?
