Georgia Gorilla

The Georgia Gorilla is the nickname given to an alleged sasquatch corpse found in Georgia.

Matthew Whitton Gets Fired From Police Force

Now that it's been revealed that the "Georgia Gorilla" was just a hoax, it turns out not everyone is laughing.

First, there's Tom Biscardi, the sasquatch enthusiast who paid for all the expenses surrounding the Bigfoot press conference. Of course he's pissed. Pranksters Matt Whitton and Rick Dyer had to expect that.

But Whitton was blindsided by Georgia's Clayton County Police Department when he was fired from the force. It turns out Police Chief Jeff Turner thinks Whitton's credibility has been damaged to the point that he could no longer be trusted as a witness in a criminal trial. (See CNN's video here)

Whitton and Dyer maintain a nonchalant attitude toward the whole thing and seem not to understand how a Bigfoot hoax could damage anyone's credibility.

But what do you think? Should Whitton have been fired? Take our poll here.

I find the actions of an ex- fellow officer sickening. I don't keep up with the Bigfoot stories, but when a fully sworn (supposedly) officer of the law goes to the extreme to show evidence. One tends to give it more credibility. The top requirements of an officer is integrity and credibility. Once you compromise those, you are no longer qualified to work in a law enforcement career. I believed we had finally confirmed or denied the existance of the legend. I thought the idea of a hoax or joke was for all parties involved were to get a good laugh out of it. If I'm not laughing I know Mr. Biscardi isn't. Not only should Whitton lose his job, but fraud charges are warranted for accepting monies. That's no joke!! Officer Integrity.
