Thanks to Bill Shipp, the Dean of Georgia politics, and his most recent column [Read the Bill Shipp column "Failed gubernatorial campaign has lessons for today's Georgia" ] in the Athens Banner-Herald, I've got some recommended reading for y'all.  It's the Georgia Budget & Policy Institute's (GBPI) report on "The State of Working Georgia" . In this ad released by the Perdue campaign, they claim that "He [Sonny Perdue] set priorites, cut waste, focused on creating jobs..." , but according to the GBPI, "Almost 250,000 Georgians were actively searching for a job, but could not find one. Meet Pamela L. Lewis, a homeless 4.0 GPA student at Griffin Technical College that was displaced by Hurricane Katrina and is presently sleeping in a '95 Ford Explorer as a resident of Riverdale, Ga. without a source of income.   The student, a Katrina survivor, was recently denied food-stamps by Clayton County-DFAS in Jonesboro, Ga. because she is not working at least 20 hrs/wk while attending school.
