And the Georgia / Russia conflict brings out more and more interesting soundbites. First it was Zalmay Khalilzad, US ambassador to the United Nations, who said: “The days of overthrowing leaders by military means in Europe - those days are gone.” → see my earlier post . Condoleezza Rice recently chimed in with her own interpretation of the conflict by saying: “This is not 1968 and the invasion of Czechoslovakia where Russia can threaten its neighbors, occupy a capital, overthrow a government, and get away with it. Things have changed.” Even McCain got into the act by saying “In the 21st Century, nations don’t ... Read Full Story

I am not going to extent an opinion about Georgia / Russia / Ossetia conflict. I am not sufficiently educated about the political and ethnic struggles of this region. The Middle East, however, is fair game. Brilliant. It reminds me of a joke I heard a few months ago when ... Read Full Story

What is going on in Russia? I’m not going to pretend to understand the rut causes of the conflict between Russia and Georgia. To be honest I never even heard of the country of Georgia until this war started. But according too George Bush the good guys are Georgia and the bad guys are Russia. Why is this? I mean both Russia and Georgia are democracies so why do we have to pick sides in this fight. From what I’ve read Georgia started this conflict. I really don’t car about this war and hope that the Untied States stays out of it….I mean we ... Read Full Story

In any other point in American history, I might have been on the other side of this debate. However, since September 11th 2001, my mindset has changed. As a native of New York City, I was there on that tragic day. I remember the chaos, fear and confusion felt throughout the city. No matter if you were Black, White, Asian or Latino, we all felt something that day. It was surely enough to change my outlook on the world. America has engaged itself in a war that for the last 5 years that does not seem like it will end. As a result, the ... Read Full Story
