Last night the college Slam Dunk and Three Point Conest was held at The Palace at Auburn Hills in Detroit. Tony Danridge barely edged Charlie Coley, III and his sicky ‘fro in a dunk off. Jack McClinton took down the three point contest. Some chick with an awkward push shot from Furman took down the women’s version. McClinton immediately stepped to her for a battle of the sexes and shimmied his way on the court in a victory dance as she clanged through the last rack. I always like the college dunk contest because it has a little more creativity than the NBA version ... Read Full Story

Sonny Weems topped Patrick Ewing Jr. in the 2008 NCAA Slam Dunk Contest. Are you a basketball fan? I paid very little attention to sports until getting married. My husband had me watching the Slam Dunk contest last night and wow, was I impressed. The best dunks are not on YouTube yet but I look forward to them being posted. Dwight Howard ultimately won. He was incredible! To cap one of the most entertaining Saturday night shows in recent memory, Dwight Howard of the Orlando Magic won the slam dunk contest in spectacular fashion, beating Minnesota’s Gerald Green in the final. Raptors rookie Jamario Moon was eliminated in the first round. Howard wowed the crowd with a ... Read Full Story

I’ve never been into sports console games, but my one exception to the rule is basketball. Old skool favorites include Fast Break, Jordan vs. Bird, NBA Live, and of course Double Dribble. So when I had a chance to check out NBA 2K8 for the Xbox360, I happily jumped at the chance! Having not played last year’s game, I can’t comment on how it compares, but most people seem to agree that it’s MUCH better than it’s predecessor in almost every way. If you’re not familiar with the game, here’s the “official” description of the game: The king of the hard court is back ... Read Full Story

At 6'5" J.R. Giddens is an enticing prospect, he has length, defensive tenacity and of course that sweet shooting stroke.  So why is it he spent most of his time in the D-league for the 2008-09 season? During the season when Danny graced us with his presence because of various injuries, he could be seen cheering wildly like those Cameron Crazies at Duke. I only found one photo of him in Celtic Green, his rookie picture. Rumor has it that the...
