The tapping of the first Oktoberfest keg at the Wollongong German Club at Kembla Grange on Friday will kick off a rollicking extravaganza of traditional German food, beer and entertainment.  

There's a hint of autumn in the air and Octoberfest is on the calendar, so you can't help but crave a juicy, meaty bratwurst. Here are some West Valley restaurants that can satisfy your hunger.  

The folks in Olfen spent their day eating homemade sausage. Church members with the St. Boniface church held their annual fall festival. The main attraction to the festival is the traditional homemade sausage. The sausage is made from a secret German recipe.

The Black Forest restaurant will hold its annual Oktoberfest party at noon Saturday in the restaurant's parking area at 2551 Hendersonville Road, Arden. The festival will offer German music, beer specials and lots of German food. For more information, call 687-7980.  

Uptown- The Brewers Association of Maryland will present Oktoberfest on Saturday, Oct. 11, at the Timonium Fairgrounds. The event will feature more than 75 beers from more than 12 breweries and samples of German food. On-site admission is $25 or $10 for designated drivers.  

Fall festival. Check out the fall foliage and experience the German heritage of Sugarcreek and Ohio's Amish country at the Heini's Gourmet Market Oktoberfest, 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Saturday. There will be beer tasting, German food, cooking demonstrations and more.

October gathering Heini's Gourmet Market in Sugarcreek will present its version of Oktoberfest from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday. The second-annual Oktoberfest, hosted by the Pure Grain Bakery and the Downtown Vacaville Business Improvement District, will be held from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Oct. 11 in downtown Vacaville. Music will be provided by the Edelweiss Band. German food, beers and wines will be available.
