Birth in your 40's now is considered to be late, yet it was quite common in previous centuries. Women have been having babies well into their 40's, and even their 50's - since the beginning of time.

"In 2005, there were more than 104,000 births in the United States to women ages 40 through 44, and over 6,500 to women 45 and older. In 2004, there were 1,786 live births to women over 42, using donor eggs."

Sharing articles I find, discussing options you might consider & suggesting what might help. Lots of inspiring stories of pregnancy & birth, both spontaneous and assisted.

I turn 44 tomorrow, expecting #2

I turn 44 tomorrow, and found out Sunday we are expecting #2.

I met my husband when I was 40, we married when I was 41 & had my daughter at 42.

With my daughter, I was going to start IF [Invitro Fertilization] (IUI [intra-uterine insemination] ) when we found we got pregnant the "old fashioned way".

We have been trying for #2 since last December, but my husband was still over in Japan (Navy) so it was hard to TTC [trying to conceive] . I later found that I had scar tissure from my daughter's C-section [Caesarean section] that had to be removed.

My husband came home in August and we did a IUI cycle with drugs, but it did not work. We were then in the process of moving to my husband's new post, and could not do the next two IUI's.

Was about to get ready to start IOI this month, when the HPT [home pregnancy test] came back positive on Sunday.

My IF nurses, OB/GYN & High Risk Doctor are so thrilled when I called them.

Now we just work on having a healthy baby & keep my blood sugar & blood pressure down, and hope Daddy makes it home before the birth of this next baby. - Brenda

I just turned 44. This is my second child, my first will be 15 years old on Saturday the 28th. I've been very blessed no miscarriages or problems.

We decided about 6 years ago to go off any protection, and see what happened. I had given up. We had talked about going to doctors and just decided not to. We had one beautiful daughter and so...

We would let God work his miracle if that was to be. Surprise!
