Tips And Info On Skyquest Telescope

I bought this for my 4 year old since she asked for a telescope for Christmas and I thought it would be a great educational “toy” (plus I REALLY wanted one! )

As could be guessed, she really is too small for the patience required to view things properly with this scope, especially when Dad is no astronomer.

I was actually a little disappointed in the magnification of the moon based on a cheap Bushnell “department store” telescope I have previously owned. For the size of this thing (BIG) compared to that one, it’s hardly much better. I do wish I had gotten the 6 instead, as it’s not that much bigger physically and the cost is about the same.

Once I get some more experience with astronomy and actually read the books I bought that teach you, I will come back and follow up to these comments.

Re: assembly, I did have to undo a couple of steps and redo them, but I chalk that up to the fact that I was putting this together in the wee hours of Christmas Eve. Assembly wasn’t that bad at all. If you can follow directions and use a screwdriver, you should have no trouble.

4 stars so far, but consider the 6 instead as it’s not that much bigger and costs about the same.
