Gisele Bundchen Passes Her Written Helicopter Pilot Test

The Brazilian supermodel, reportedly looking to cut down the commute between her home in Boston and her modeling gigs in New York City, has passed the written portion of the test needed to become a licensed helicopter pilot, according to the Boston Herald. Now she has two years to pass an oral examination demonstrating her practical knowledge of operating whirlybirds, a flight test.

In the meantime, Bundchen will need to complete 20 hours of flight lessons with an instructor, 10 hours of solo flight, and an added 10 hours of either dual or solo flying since Bundchen doesn't have a pilot's license for an airplane.

According to Keith Douglass, president of Shoreline Aviation, Bundchen is a natural. "She is one of the best pilots I’ve seen in a long time," says Douglass. Speaking to People, Douglass says that she'll be doing her flight test sometimes next week, well before she's due to give birth.

She'll need to finish it up soon, as she's almost outgrown the cockpit. "She's almost to a point where she's too big to be flying," says Douglass. "She needs to be able to move the rutter around and she's getting there."
