The NFL Network is reporting that an unnamed source claims that former Steelers' head coach and Super Bowl winner Bill Cowher would be interested in coaching either the Chicago Bears or Houston Texans next season. Several sources close to Cowher himself admitted that the former coach of the year is readying to get back into the league after taking two years off, although they did not specify teams. Cowher's name was already linked with the job...  

The Houston Texans lost their fourth straight game and are likely out of the playoff hunt for the eighth season in a row after another close loss to Jacksonville this weekend. Now this long-suffering team has to figure out a way to salvage something positive out of the season with four games to go. "We need something good to happen to us," coach Gary Kubiak said.  

Houston's four trips to the red zone resulted in just one touchdown this weekend against St. Louis. It was enough for a 16-13 win against the lowly Rams, but the Texans will need to improve to beat Miami and New England and accomplish their goal of a first winning season. The Houston Texans broke out of their four-game losing streak in grand fashion this weekend. Matt Schaub had more than 300 yards passing by halftime and the defense scored as many points as it allowed in a 34-7 win over the Seahawks. Andre Johnson had his best game of the season and came just shy of a career-high with 193 yards receiving and a pair of touchdowns.  

Houston has struggled in the run game all season and starter Steve Slaton being placed on the injured reserve last week sure didn't help. The team ranks 29th in the league in yards rushing a game with 88.7. Now the Texans will try turning things around with rookie Arian Foster. The undrafted free agent spent most of the season on the practice squad and made his offensive debut last week.  

When Gary Kubiak returned to his hometown in 2006 for his first head coaching job, the Houston Texans believed he was the one to turn the franchise around. Now that the Texans are virtually out of playoff contention in Kubiak's fourth season, he is left to answer questions about how much longer he'll be in charge of this underachieving team.  

After starting 5-3 and being in the thick of a playoff race, the Texans have lost four in a row. They can't win close games in the end. As a result, fans and media are howling for coach Gary Kubiak's scalp. Houston quarterback Matt Schaub could play on Sunday against the Seattle Seahawks despite dislocating his non-throwing shoulder this weekend. Coach Gary Kubiak says Schaub has "good chance" of playing this weekend. Schaub was injured on the first play of Sunday's loss to the Jaguars but returned in the second quarter and finished the game.  

For the Miami Dolphins, the situation may be hopeless: To stay in the playoff race, they must beat the Houston Texans. Houston is the only team Miami has never beaten. The Dolphins are 0-4 in the series, losing each of the past three years. Miami will try for a breakthrough Sunday, when both teams need a win to stay in playoff contention.  

Houston Texans running back Steve Slaton is done for the season after being placed on injured reserve Wednesday because of a nerve issue in his neck. Slaton, who ran for 1,282 yards last season, has had a fumbling problem this year and the Texans recently revealed that the injury on his right side was more serious than they initially believed.  

Houston Texans offensive tackle Duane Brown injured his left knee in the third quarter against the St. Louis Rams on Sunday. The team said his return was questionable. It was unclear how Brown was injured. Rashard Butler replaced Brown, the Texans' first-round pick in 2008.  

Houston Texans rookie tight end Anthony Hill has a torn knee ligament and will miss the rest of the season. He is the second tight end the Texans have lost to a season-ending knee injury this season after Owen Daniels went down with a similar injury early in November.
