One Step Closer To ET?

Scientists discovered a small rocky planet orbiting a star 20 light-years from Earth. This planet is within the habitable zone, which means it's far enough away from it's sun that temperatures fall into the range that could support life. It is thought to have an atmosphere, and should have water as well.

There are 129 stars within 20 light-years of us. So, if the odds continue on this trend, that could mean 1 out of every 65 or so stars should have a planet capable of supporting life. There are about 100 billion stars in our galaxy alone. That makes the odds for life being out there somewhere highly likely.

It's exciting news in my opinion. If nothing else, it means there may be options for us in the future when we completely drain this planet of its resources.
