Denny’s slammed by breakfast giveaway Denny’s restaurants across North America were jammed Tuesday with patrons hungry to take advantage of the restaurant chain’s Grand Slam breakfast giveaway. Denny’s announced in a commercial Sunday during the Super Bowl that it would give away its signature breakfast from 6 a.m. until 2 p.m. local time Tuesday at all its restaurants in the U.S., Canada and Puerto Rico. GoDaddy is quickly becoming famous for its provocative, sexual ads displayed on the Super Bowl each year. This is GoDaddy’s fifth consecutive year in the Super Bowl , and according to many sources, the millions of dollars spent, is well paying off. According to an article by Ad Age , Godaddy’s estimated value from the publicity of the 2008 commercial (that was never aired) was $11.7 million. In fact the CEO, Bob Parsons, says “The day before we ran our first ad in 2005, our market share of new-domain registrations was 16%”. The week after the first Super Bowl ad, it increased to 25%. ... PETA , the US animal rights organisation, have created a controversial series of videos which are now going viral. The PETA film, 'Veggie Love' is based around the proposition that 'Vegetarians have better sex' and shows 3 models in a series of sexually suggestive poses with vegetables. PETA submitted one of them for approval for broadcast in Superbowl XLIII, but got a firm rejection letter from NBC that goes into far too much detail, listing all the specific elements of the film that they found objectionable (obviously published in full on the PETA website.) This may well be the age of TiVo, but I think I might love commercials. Rich with Snuggies, John Hodgman, and creepy-yet-mesmerizing Prius spots, commercials can be pretty damn entertaining. So why are we all doing our level best to make sure we don't see any of them? (Except during the SuperBowl. [Well, it used to be "except during the SuperBowl," because the SuperBowl commercials are fairly sad heaps of noise and products these days.])
