Today's t-shirt of the day on Teefury is Taz's Godzilla vs. Gamera red t-shirt design. The designer explains that he had previously created an Ultraman vs Godzilla illustration and "was still on a Godzilla kick and I also really wanted to do a drawing of Gamera so as Emeril Lagasse likes to say BAM...Godzilla vs Gamera." Okay, seeing as how Godzilla came out on Blu-ray recently, I figured I’d take this opportunity to do a review of it, so that any poor schmucks who haven’t seen it yet that might actually try it can be warned in advance. Featuring Matthew Broderick and The Professional’s Jean Reno, Godzilla takes the legendary Japanese movie [...]

Recently, I reviewed Waterworld. Now I’m talking about 1998’s disaster opus Godzilla. These are two of the biggest flops of the 1990’s. Overhyped and overproduced, and expensive as all get out, perhaps they’re hitting Blu-ray in the hopes of eeking out profits. Someone thought they might have had something here, but when Roland Emmerich and [...]

“Godzilla” is Roland Emmerich’s 1998 blockbuster bust. There is no denying that Emmerich has created some of the most visually stunning films. “The Day After Tomorrow” and “Independence Day” are not known for their wonderful stories, only for their visual styles. “Godzilla” wasn’t a bust at the box office, having raked in over $130 million. Still, that doesn’t mean this was a good movie. It was seen simply for its visual effects...

Over the course of 17 professional seasons, goaltender Olaf “Olie” Kolzig stood in net as one of the NHL’s largest figures. Nicknamed “Godzilla” for his imposing size, Olaf Kolzig retired this summer after a long and successful career. He played all but eight of his NHL games as a Washington Capital. Kolzig retired holding almost every Washington franchise record for goaltending. Instead of trying to justify a Hall of Fame bid, I choose...

"Godzilla" hit the headlines across Japan today, but the news was all about baseballs, not buildings, being crushed after New York Yankees slugger Hideki Matsui was crowned the World Series' Most Valuable Player.

Led by designated hitter Hideki Matsui's 6 RBI night - perhaps in his last game in pinstripes - the New York Yankees won their 27th championship and their first since 2000, beating the Philadelphia Phillies 7-3 in Game 6 and winning the 2009 World Series, four games to two. Matsui, the Japanese star whose nickname is "Godzilla," trampled on the Phillies. He was 8 for 13 in the World Series. On Wednesday at Yankee Stadium, he hit a two-run...

This makes me appreciate how little the Miata has grown. Though the current generation (NC) is larger than the previous ones (NA and NB), but the base NC is only ~16% heavier than the NA Miata was when it debuted 20 years ago. Though I'd like to see Mazda drop the size/weight of the next Miata, they deserve credit for keeping it as light as it is. Also, a minor correction: the article states "The GT–R is 850 pounds heavier than the NSX...
