Jazz -- Not All That
I'm writing this after the Warriors trounced Utah Jazz in game 3 of the 07 Playoffs, round 2. To update, yes, in round 1 the number 8 seeded team operating under a system their coach Don "Nelly" Nelson calls "controlled chaos," did beat hot shot #1 Dallas with the (no-show) MVP player and record 67 wins in the regular season. I will admit, I felt a teeny bit sad for the Dallas players (a feeling I could not muster for the Lakers -- splat! ew!). And a little sad for Dirk (but not for owner Mark Cuban (blub, blub) or Nelly's former assistant coach Avery Johnson) who expected so much more from himself and who's a cool guy, blah blah. But enough of losers!
The Warriors left the Jazz in 20 points of dust, blinded and befuddled. They met a 3-point record (11 in the first half), created turnovers galore. Baron Davis was unstoppable. This was an especially satisfying demolition after those first two so painfully close struggles in Utah. I predict a squeaking Warrior win in Sunday's game 4 and then they'll have to win one away to get a clean shot at the series of the century (sorry San Antonio, you won't be in it). Warriors have to stay on their 3 points, keep the defense aggressive and the game fast, and well, hopefully squeeze a bit more out of Al Harrington and Monta Ellis... Polishing off the Jazz is eminently doable.
Warriors versus Suns -- game of the century. RoadRunner fast ball, so fast East Coast fans' eyes will having trouble following it. Here's to it. BELIEVE.
