Free Tips On How To Increase Your Google Page Rank

I was sitting in front of my computer last night, getting ready to do some research for a project that I was working on. A friend of mine promotes various events around the country so he asked me to help him out with the "finding of stuff", as he puts it, or gathering information as I call it.

For whatever strange reason, I am passionate about doing research. Not scientific research, although I am sure that is exciting as well, I am talking about information research. The ability to locate something that can help with a business plan, research paper, or some other type of periodical, is rewarding to me.

While working on my friend's research project, I invariably began with the gold standard of search engines, Google. Beyond their ability to offer keyword related ads that appear in the sidebar in which they overcharge with pay-per-click prices, Google really does a nice job when it comes to the "free" results

These "free" results are based on the search criteria that a user enters into the search box. Those terms, better known as keywords, are then run through the top secret Google Ranking Top. It is this algorithm that indexes every page on the internet in the order by keyword importance.

In our previous article we talked about how important it is to increase your Google page rank. We talked about how the higher your rank, the higher your listing on search results. We also gave you some tips to help you along on your quest to a greater achievement for your site. And we did this by educating you on the benefits of link exchanging.

Now that you know the basics of link exchanging, lets get a little more advanced to really drive that number up there.

Keep in mind that even though exchanging links with websites is a good thing, and never a bad thing, that not all exchanged links are created equal.

"But Bruce you said in the previous article that in order to increase your Google page rank you need to exchange links?" That is true, I did say that. However before I continue let me say this. I am a firm believer that you should trade links with everybody and anybody. The more the merrier. Not only with websites that are in similar content with yours, but those that have nothing to do with what yours is about.

If you have ever been to Las Vegas then what I am about to tell you will probably ring a bell in your mind and make you say "ah ha", but if you have not been there it will still make a lot of sense in regards to what it means for your link exchange program.

Before we get to that I just want to make sure you are up to date in our series on how to properly go about using some tips we already shared with in regards on how to raise that Google page rank.

By now you have read our first three articles on raising your getting Page One On Google. You know that you need to get other websites to link to yours which helps raise that score. You also know that not all links are created equal and that in order to have your website look favorable to the Google algorithm you need to exchange links the right way.

Now that you are up to speed lets get back to our Vegas analogy. When you go to Vegas and enter into a casino (most of the big ones anyway), they set it up in such a way where you need to go through the entire casino floor in order for you to exit.

Many people who have a website are looking at the best ways of increasing their Google rank page. In this article I give free tips on how I believe you should go about doing this. These techniques are what I use on all of my websites.

For me by far and away the most important thing we all need to do is to obtain as many backward links to our website as possible. This should be an ongoing project as to suddenly for example buy a thousand links and to then not add to these, is not natural. My advice is a steady increase in these links daily. I also would certainly not ever buy a thousand links anyway.

So far we have established that we require lots and lots of backward links, the next question is how to obtain them. There are two types of links, reciprocal and non reciprocal. Non reciprocal links are of much higher value as they are seemingly harder to get.

To ask a person who has a website to add a link to your website for no reason, or without you adding a link back in return, is unlikely to meet a positive response.

One of the most frequent questions I receive in regards to website popularity is about the Google page rank. I will refer to the Google page rank from hereafter as simply "GPR". It helps save on typing, and if you saw my typing skills you would understand.

All kidding aside and on a more serious note, the GPR is important for the simple reason that it determines where your website will appear in Google search results based ..words entered by the person using Google.

The GPR is a value system which ranges from zero, the lowest value a web page can have, up to ten, which is the highest value that can be placed upon a web page. It goes without saying, but I will say it anyway, the higher your GPR, the higher your site will appear when someone searches ..words directly correlated to the content of your web site.

To put this in a more visual mode so you can better understand what I mean, lets take two websites that are for the most part nearly identical. For this example I will use the New York Times and The New York Daily News. Both newspapers offer news from the New York Metropolitan area as well as from around the world.

It is indispensable to have a high Google ranking for you website. This is because in order to get traffic to your site it has to be attractive to the search engines. A high PR is an indication that it is. When you consider that that the most successful internet marketers achieve only 3% of conversion to sales from those who visit their websites, then the importance of a respectable PR ranking and the attendant traffic becomes very important. By the way, the less successful internet marketers get only 1% conversions and those who get less usually give up on their internet marketing efforts.

Having established the importance of a good PR so that you have a good chance of exposure and therefore a greater possibility of sales, you or the webmaster handling your website must optimize it for the search engines. This can be regarded as the main goal of the website owner and the webmaster. To get onto the first page of Google's search results for your keyword or keyword phrase it what it's all about. At worst your site should be appearing on the second or third page. If it appears on any subsequent page you can pretty much accept that your website is invisible to the search engines.
