Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger weighs in on California Supreme Court gay marriage ruling
As we reported earlier, the California Supreme Court ruled that banning gay marriage is unconstitutional.
Naturally, the reactions are starting to come in. Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, who has vetoed gay marriage legislation in the past is sticking to his word to let by-gones be by-gones.
"I respect the Court’s decision and as Governor, I will uphold its ruling," Schwarzenegger said. "Also, as I have said in the past, I will not support an amendment to the constitution that would overturn this state Supreme Court ruling.”
I guess a Republican governor in a "blue state" has to do whatever it takes to earn public approval!
This is great news for gays in California who are likely to start tying the knot as soon as possible.
California is the second state to legalize gay marriage behind Massachusetts.
