Over the weekend our own amazing Junebug Image Editor Kim Bamberg, along with her husband Adam of La Vie Photography, were the photographers at the wedding of Courtney Gregoire and Scott Lindsay, the daughter and new son-in-law of the Washington State Governor Christine Gregoire. The outdoor wedding was the very first to ever take place at the 100-year-old Governor’s mansion in Olympia, Washington and was absolutely spectacular! Governor Gregoire was gracious and relaxed, in true Northwest spirit. She was involved throughout the day from documenting the set up first thing in the morning to ending the night celebrating on the dance floor. Like the ... Read Full Story

This past Thursday Governor Christine Gregoire issued a recommended budget cut of about 12% or $31 million cut from the annual allocated $262 million. During the next two years the cut will also include a 7% increase in tuition. "WSU fully realizes that sacrifices must be made during these difficult financial times," WSU President Elson S. Floyd said after being briefed on the governor’s budget. "The governor has repeatedly made a commitment to education and her proposed budget reflects this priority. WSU will continue to take the appropriate steps to manage within this fiscal environment." The Tri City Citizen Says: “If that level of ... Read Full Story

There has been lots of talk about the clean energy jobs that can be created with substantial US investment in green industries, but in a Senate hearing this week the talk was less about potential and more about results. Washington Governor Christine Gregoire testified: In 2007, Gregoire set a goal of having 25,000 green jobs in her state by 2020, but that goal has been met in just two years with 47,000 jobs in the state now considered “green,” she said. Washington has also had dramatic success in ramping up its wind power industry; in 2001, virtually none of the state’s power came from ... Read Full Story

Washington's governor wants to work with Secretary of State Sam Reed to make changes that ensure speedier results. Counties now report results for most of the ballots they have in hand by the end of election night. However, because many voters drop ballots in the mail or into special drop boxes on Election Day, the forms don't reach election officials for several more days.

Via email from Governor Chris Gregoire's office:I am extremely pleased that voters have approved Referendum 71. I signed the original bill and believe it is the right policy for our great state. Washington state has a history of fighting to ensure everyone – mothers, fathers, sons, daughters, brothers, sisters – enjoys equal rights. From the first bill I signed in 2007 to this new law, we have proudly made great strides on behalf of all...

In what can be described as a totally predicable development, Governor Christine Gregoire has endorsed mayoral candidate Joe Mallahan. After all, she helped negotiate the deal with erstwhile local elected officials for the deep-bore tunnel downtown—which Mallahan supports—but challenger Mike McGinn opposes. For Gregoire's tunnel vision to reach fruition, Mallahan would probably have to win. “We took enormous steps in the last legislative...
