Utah Gov. Jon Huntsman (R) Going to China?

According to an administration official it seems that President Barack Obama plans to name Republican Governor Jon M. Huntsman, Jr. as Ambassador to China.

Needless to say, this comes as a major disappointment and a shock to some of the Repubs who sit around the Sunday morning talk show table — specifically, Monica Crowley.  Over the past few weeks, some of the blonds with open mouths and closed minds have touted the Utah governor as the great hope for 2012.  Some even speculated that Huntsman was posturing for his presidential run.  After all, he has suddenly become more visible — at least to those of us who are always looking for the groundhog to stick his head out of the hole.

Of course, if Huntsman is named ambassador that does not guarantee that he won’t think of running for President in 2012.  But — it would look strange for his to run against the man who appointed him to the position.

This one is worth watching.  And, we must say from all we have seen of Huntsman in the past few weeks, he is polished and articulate, and his credentials should make him a good nominee for ambassador.
