A South Carolina legislator says he expects to introduce a resolution to impeach Republican Gov. Mark Sanford for skipping the state for five days in June to rendezvous with his lover. Republican Rep. Greg Delleney of Chester has drafted the resolution and expects to introduce it Tuesday afternoon as the Legislature meets to deal with unemployment benefit issues. The estranged wife of South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford is writing a memoir. Ballantine Books, an imprint of Random House Inc., said Tuesday it will publish Jenny Sanford's "inspirational memoir" in May 2010. The publisher says Sanford "will grapple with the universal issue of maintaining integrity and a sense of self during life's difficult times." Federal documents show the Department of Homeland Security temporarily pulled South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford's classified security clearance following his secret trip to Argentina. The Post and Courier of Charleston reported Wednesday that a Homeland Security division chief notified Sanford in a July letter that the Republican governor's actions raised questions about his judgment and trustworthiness. The newspaper obtained the letter through a Freedom of Information Act request.
