Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee says that some of the criticism he's received for commuting the sentence of a man later suspected of gunning down four police officers is "disgusting." The former presidential candidate said Tuesday that opponents are trying to use his commutation of Maurice Clemmons in 2000 as a political weapon against him. Clemmons was shot and killed by a policeman in Seattle early Tuesday morning. In an interview on Joe Scarborough's radio show on WABC-AM in New York, Huckabee said that the focus should be on the families of the four officers Clemmons was suspected of killing Sunday. Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee says he's leaning slightly against running for president in 2012 but says it's far too early to say what he will do. Huckabee says how the 2010 congressional elections turn out will affect his decision. He also will be looking at whether the Republican Party is willing to unite behind him as a candidate. All good intentions aside, any attempt to grant “Second Chance” to convicted felons is ‘Russian Roulette” at best and guaranteed political suicide, always. The touchy feely era is over in this country. Mental illness and felonies are closely related. The economy, the wars, the increased polarization of opinions have brought even more mental illness to the surface. Denial of mental problems should no longer be tolerated. The mental health industry needs a serious boost to deal with the mental deterioration plaguing this ... Read Full Story

Governor Mike Huckabee’s attention is shifting back to Iowa (he loves Iowa a whole lot) and is making his first formal endorsement of a major Republican name out there: United States Senator Chuck Grassley. Senator Grassley is one of the most reliable social conservatives left in the United States Senate and while we may disagree with him on some smaller economic issues, the fact that he’s willing to team up with Governor Mike Huckabee is a really positive sign, not just for the future of our party, but the chances of Governor Huckabee in Iowa 2012. Shy of a complete meltdown, Chuck Grassley is ... Read Full Story

Huckabee (right) and friend. Fox News host and former Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee probably won't run for president in 2012, he said on CBS's Face the Nation today. This is bad news for Republicans, who seem to love Huckabee more than any other potential 2012 candidate. But you can't really blame Huckabee. He's enjoying his new TV career and doesn't really think President Obama will lose anyway. "Anyone who thinks Barack Obama is an easy mark off, just remember Bill Clinton was just labeled politically dead and came back to win a resounding re-election in 1996," he said.
