With his second term set to expire at the end of next year, Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty is widely considered a likely contender for the 2012 Republican nomination. At news conference on the day Minnesota economists announced a $1.2 billion state deficit over the next 19 months, which could swell to $5.4 billion in 2012-13, got a bit testy and awkward as journalists quizzed Minnesota Gov. Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty is understandably frustrated with Maine Senator Olympia Snowe's shifting between sides in the health care fight. But Pawlenty went way too far in questioning whether she should be in the Republican party. Snowe is an institution in New England politics with a well-earned reputation for putting the needs of constituents -- many of whom lack health insurance -- ahead of party dogma.
