Grace Abounds - Autistic Soul

This is dedicated to my son Dylan.

Dylan is autistic.

It is also also dedicated to my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

It is by his sacrifice, and God's abundant grace and mercy that I am able to see Dylan for who he is, and for who I am in God's eyes.

It is thru Dylan that God reveals His Charecter to me, and gives me the opportunity to learn, grow, and mature.

June 2008, Why so long? As I've been away from writing for so long, I wonder why the lack of inspiration to share what is happening with Dylan. He turned 5 in April and in real terms is making slow, steady progress, for a child who is autistic. Perhaps it is the realization that his healing process will be slow is what grinds my heart. I have come to believe that Dylan, our autistic son, is in the process of healing. Like the blind man healed by Jesus, who had his sight restored in stages, slowly, and who at first saw men and said they "look like trees walking around (Mark 8:24)," Dylan's awareness of the world, in light of others being part of it, is slowly getting clearer. Father's Day... (2007) It just hit me that my son Dylan will not know that this Sunday is Father's Day. Dylan will not know that it is a celebration during which children all over our nation take time to give thanks for their dads.
