It appears after a nice pro career, defensive end Grant Wistrom is ready to head home, literally. He's apparently decided to retire from the NFL and take a job as a coach with his old high school. Wistrom starred in college for Nebraska and was the sixth pick in the 1998 NFL Draft by the Rams. He played in St. Louis through 2003 before joining the Seattle Seahawks for the rest of his career. The Edgerrin James experiment in Seattle is over. The struggling Seahawks cut ties with James on Tuesday, releasing the backup running back who never provided the pop Seattle hoped to get when it signed the 31-year-old in late August. James' release was one of a handful of moves Seattle made two days after a lackluster 38-17 loss that dropped the Seahawks to 2-5.

Seattle cornerback Ken Lucas did not return after he sustained a shoulder stinger in the third quarter of the Seahawks' game Sunday against the Dallas Cowboys. Lucas was hurt trying to bring down running back Felix Jones in Dallas' 38-17 victory. On the tackle, Jones pushed Lucas to the ground, and the ninth-year cornerback landed awkwardly.
