The Plustek SmartOffice PS282 is a handy and compact scanner that zips quickly through jobs and folds up so it doesn't take up a lot of space. Since it costs over $300 it competes with Fujitsu's ScanSnap line--an excellent set of scanners, which also come with the full version of Adobe Acrobat (Plustek does offer a suite of OCR and image-editing software). And the Fujitsu ScanSnap S510 is cheaper as well. Bottom line? For now, Fujitsu has the...

MacNN has produced two new reviews, the first covering Readdle's Scanner Pro for iPhone. The app uses an iPhone's camera as a document capture tool, transforming photos into PDFs which can then be uploaded to several destinations or copied back to a Mac or PC. After capturing an image, users can rely on default processing, switch to grayscale, or make tweaks to contrast and brightness....

Weighing less than a bag of sugar, the P-150 is incredibly compact. It measures up at 280 x 95 x 40 mm when closed, folding out to 280 x 222.7 x 202.2 mm to reveal the loading tray. It'd easily fit in a hand-bag or "man-bag", and is light enough to not be too much of a hassle when travelling.

One reader wrote looking for advice on scanning "several thousand photos." The scanner needs to be Mac friendly and optimized for photo scanning. Given that there are so many to scan, it might help to have an automatic document feeder, though I've never used an ADF to scan photos and am not even sure if you can do it. The Epson Perfection V500 has an optional ADF for an additional $199 (note: that link goes to a review of the V600, a similar...

I was doing some research into the Fujitsu ScanSnap 1500M scanner and I noticed there was some discussion on how it was not working properly with Snow Leopard, even with the original "fix".When I had a Fujitsu representative on the phone this morning, he said that he was informed there is now a "new fix" on Fujitsu website that should make this scanner work perfectly with Snow Leopard (which I have not upgraded to yet).

The DocuPen X-Series isn't necessarily a new idea, but it may be the snazziest pen scanner we've seen to date. Loaded an OLED display and an incredible 64GB of storage (further expandable via MicroSD), you simply run the pen (lengthwise) over text and color images to capture them at 600dpi. But to simplify matters even more, you can either unload images to a PC through USB, or you can just transfer shots to whatever device you'd like over...
