A community portal about Great Pyramid of Giza with blogs, videos, and photos. According to Wikipedia.org: The Great Pyramid of Giza is the oldest and only remaining member of the Seven Wonders of the World. Most Egyptologists agree the pyramid was constructed over a 20 year period concluding around 2560 BC. It is generally believed the Great Pyramid was built as the tomb of Fourth dynasty Egyptian pharaoh Khufu, after whom it is sometimes called Khufu's Pyramid or the Pyramid of Khufu. Khufu's vizier, Hemon, is credited as the architect of the Great Pyramid.
It's a Wonderment!
All of the Original 7 Wonders of the World are long gone, except the Pyramids.
They were (in no particular order)::
Mausoleum of Maussollos at Halicarnassus
Now we (the People of Planet Earth) get to cast our vote for The New 7 Wonders!
The vote is organized by a non-profit Swiss foundation called New7Wonders which specializes in the preservation, restoration and promotion of monuments, and the results will be announced on July 7, 2007, in Lisbon. Mark your Calendar: 07/07/07 (for the 7 Wonders, how cool is that?) New7Wonders is part of UNESCO, apparently. You heard it here first! (or maybe second). The UNESCO Link provides wiki reference to the 21 finalists (so you can get a picture and details before voting!)
The only criteria for the new list is that the landmarks were built or discovered before 2000.
