Coke has moved from glass to plastic bottles and now it looks like we are in for a green revolution as the famed soft drink company announces the release of bottles made of 30% waste material. The company plans to introduce 2 billion bottles by the end of 2010 which they have calld PlantBottle. It is made of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) plastic package and is 100% recyclable. The company’s goal is to use nonfood, plant-based waste, such as wood chips or wheat stalks, to produce recyclable PET plastic bottles and to create a bottle that is made with 100% plant-waste material while remaining completely ... Starbucks has been known to take its own initiative as far as being eco-friendly is concerned and apparently this development should be considered the big switch. Over 8,000 stores will now be lit up by LED lighting which many may see as a great initiative to save on some energy costs and of course preach LED light alternatives. Hewlett Packard just announced the debut of a new eco friendly printer to their roster. The p2055d is an Energy Star- qualified printer that has built-in paper and energy conservation features. HP specifically mentioned that the models come with instant-on technology, which can provide users with energy savings of up to 50 percent when compared against machines that still employ traditional fusing technology And in addition to the paper conservation functions mentioned above, there is also a feature on the HP p2055d called n-up printing which allows for the printing of multiples pages on a single paper.
