With Portland’s 122-98 beat down of Chicago last night , the Blazers are looking more and more like the team many predicted they’d be this year: a squad that will vie for the Western Conference Finals and possibly beyond. Do you know who puts this team over the hump? Gregory Wayne Oden Jr. Signing Andre Miller this off-season and returning Martell Webster from an injury that limited him to five minutes last year are both integral parts of Portland’s success. But their ultimate desire rests in the hands of the big man from Buckeye country. When Oden is playing with confidence - and reassuring ... Read Full Story

Carmello Anthony scored 41 points and the Denver Nuggets used a second half comeback to give the Portland Trailblazers a rare 97-94 loss at their Rose Garden Arena home venue on Thursday night. The Blazers held a 67-62 lead heading into the final quarter but for the second time in as many games had trouble putting their opponent away. Brandon Roy led Portland with 30 points, and Greg Oden was the high rebounder for the home team with 9 boards. Portland is now 1-1 on the young NBA season, while Denver improved to 2-0. NBA pointspread players who took Denver as +8 road underdogs ... Read Full Story

Greg Oden had a career night scoring 24 points last night for the Portland Trail Blazers. He went 7-8 from the floor while dropping in 10-12 from the free throw line. He rounded out his best scoring game yet by grabbing 6 offensive rebounds (12 total) with 2 blocked shots. Those are all star caliber numbers. After his rugged rookie season last year it is hard to imagine this fast a turnaround. Oden is emerging into the player people thought he could be when selected with the number one pick in 2007. If he continues at this level the Blazers will expedite their ascension ... Read Full Story

So, today I heard something about the backup 4 spot for the Trail Blazers. The question was asked "why didn't the Trail Blazers draft DeJuan Blair?" Well I guess the answer is that the Blazers really weren't expecting the players they drafted this season to have any kind of impact on the team this season. Nobody thought, clearly, that Outlaw and Batum would be hurt. Donte Cunningham is a nice player but he's not a post up guy. I think Jeff...

Chicago Bulls point guard Derrick Rose has a listed height of 6'3", making him a full nine inches shorter than Portland center Greg Oden. But that didn't stop him when the former first overall draft picks faced off momentarily in last night's game between the Bulls and the Trail Blazers. Early in the third quarter, with Portland holding a commanding 66-51 lead, Rose drove to the basket and unleashed a powerful dunk on Oden. It wasn't a bad...
