There's some angry lines in it, but ... we censor ourselves too much in country music. Other genres don't seem to, the freedom of speech thing works for us too. I'm not saying get vulgar, but you should be able to state your opinion, ...

"Redneck Woman" Gretchen Wilson and her longtime record label, Sony Music Nashville, have parted. Sony announced the split Tuesday, describing it as a mutual decision. Wilson shot to fame with her 2004 smash "Redneck Woman." Her debut album, "Here For the Party," sold 5 million copies. Her next two albums for Sony — 2005's "All Jacked Up" and 2007's "One of the Boys" — reached No. 1 but didn't sell nearly as well as her debut and produced only one Top 10 single between them. Sony says in a statement that while Wilson will no longer record for the label as a solo artist, ... Read Full Story

Gretchen Wilson and her mother haven't spoken in a few years, but she's hoping to change that on Sunday. "As far as I know things are going a lot better with her life than they were previously," said Wilson. "And so I'm thinking that this Mother's Day, we might reconnect." Asked how that might happen, the "Redneck Woman" singer said: "Maybe a phone call." Wilson was born to a teenage mother, and has described her upbringing as impoverished and difficult. She has also depicted her mother as a battered wife who turned to alcohol and drugs to numb the pain of her life. Wilson ... Read Full Story

For a lot of casual country music fans, the first thing they might think when seeing this video is where's Gretchen been? The truth though is she's been here all along, but because of a dispute with her old record label and a string of singles that failed to make it into the top 40 on the country charts, many might have thought she was taking a break. Nothing could be farther from the truth. Gretchen's been doing exactly what she's singing about in this song. She's been working very hard (and she always plays harder). She just started her own record label called ... Read Full Story

Gretchen Wilson has started her own label. Redneck Records, based out of Lebanon, Tn will release Gretchen’s newest single “Work Hard, Play Harder” on October 26th with a video to follow and Gretchen’s new Album I Got Your Country Right Here coming in early 2010.
