It was Guy Fawkes Night on 5th November. It is an annual event that celebrates the downfall of the Gunpowder Plot of 5 November 1605. Way back in 1605 a group of Catholic conspirators tried to burn down the Houses of Parliament in London. The plot was unsuccessful. The most famous of these conspirators was Guy Fawkes. Ever since then, this day is celebrated with bonfires and fireworks display. Small villages, towns and large cities all celebrate the day either as private events or as a community party. Israel unveiled a cache of hundreds of tons of rockets, mortars, missiles and anti-tank weapons on a ship seized at sea near Cyprus.  The weapons were shipped from Iran; Israeli officials aver they were bound for Hezbollah in Lebanon.  Read the Voice of America article .
