A company run by Hong Kong's best-known entertainment mogul has paid a record 108 million US dollars for a shop in one of the busiest shopping districts, a report said Tuesday. The sale of the 1,212 square foot outlet comes as the city's government tries to contain soaring property costs due to fears they are getting out of control. A former senior executive in HSBC's commercial banking department was jailed for 20 months in Hong Kong on Wednesday for taking a 60,000 US dollar bribe from a client. The city's District Court sentenced Chen Ching-hsiao, 47, after he pleaded guilty this month to accepting a bribe, a judiciary spokeswoman told AFP. As part of his sentencing, Chen was ordered to pay the bank 60,000 US dollars, the amount that he accepted to approve a 10-million US dollar loan for a Taiwanese client two years ago, she added.
