Ashlee Simpson's appearance has changed a lot in the past several years. In the days of the Ashlee Simpson show (2004, to be exact. Remember it?) she had chestnut brown hair, an obviously-authentic nose, and much thinner lips.
"Hey kids! I dyed my hair brown so you don't confuse me with my big, blonde sister, and so you can see how funky and artsy I am! Look at my single earring." Photo linked from MTV.
By the time Ashlee released her single and had that whole Saturday Night Live lip-syncing ho-down jig, her hair was black. Like her soul.

Once again, Ash meant to show us how alterna-girl she is. It was a great marketing strategy for little girls who pretended to be goth but still really wished Britney would hurry up and get skinny again.
Once Ashlee's career began to fall apart... ...she decided the best way to amend things was to cut open her face and bleach away the nightmares.

She's now a dark red. Aren't pregnant ladies supposed to avoid the hair dye? I wonder if she'll paint eyeliner on her kid so that Pete won't have trouble recognizing his offspring.
