TOKYO (Reuters) - Sumo bad boy Asashoryu, no stranger to public criticism, has been labeled "podgy" in a bizarre attack on the volatile Mongolian. A popular former wrestler now working as a TV commentator accused Asashoryu of being flabby, even though his 150-kilogram frame is relatively small for the sport. "He looks podgy," Shuhei Mainoumi told Japanese media. "He doesn't look as buff. When I got flabby I hated being naked and showing off my body -- he looks a bit like that." Rising Mongolian star wrestler Harumafuji clinched his first tournament victory Sunday after defeating both sitting grandchampions. Harumafuji, whose real name is Davaanyam Byambadorj, took down compatriot Hakuho in the final day play-off with an underarm throw, or "shitate nage." He is likely be promoted to grandchampion if he wins the next tournament in July as two straight victories by champion-level wrestlers is regarded as a condition for their promotion to the highest rank. Mongolian grand champion Asashoryu, who turns 28 this Saturday, pulled out of the latest tournament yesterday, making this his second consecutive tournament he left. According to Jiji Press , Asashoryu have a damaged ligament in his left elbow. Mongolian grand champion Hakuhō Shō and Japanese sumo wrestler Gōeidō Gōtarōare are tied f or the lead at the Autumn Grand Sumo Tournament . FUKUOKA (Kyodo) Mongolian yokozuna Hakuho overpowered ozeki Kotooshu and closed in on his 12th title at the Kyushu Grand Sumo Tournament on Friday. With closest rival Asashoryu slumping to another shock defeat, Hakuho (13-0) moved two wins clear and can secure the Emperor's Cup with a victory over ozeki Kotomitsuki on Saturday.
