Now that Halo 3: Recon has been announced players around the globe are demanding more information about the game. And, for once, Bungie has given us some.
Speaking to Joystiq , Bungie Studios Community Director Brian Jarrard cleared up some questions about the game and gave some interesting information. Following on from Bungie revealing Halo 3: Recon at TGS they have released a list of FAQ’s to answer the commonly asked questions that have bombarded them since the announcement. The list confirms that Recon is not the ‘Mythic’ map pack (which is slated for an early 2009 release) but a full standalone game based on the events in New Mombasa leading up to Halo 3 , but it will include the ‘Mythic’ map pack on the disc for those that are prepared to wait rather than buy them separately in... Yesterday Microsoft announced that the latest installment of the ever popular Halo franchise has been renamed from Halo 3: Recon to Halo 3: ODST, after the orbital drop shock troops that will be the games main protagonists in their efforts to eliminate the Covenant at New Mombasa.

This is cool. Apparently this guy found a way to be able to wear those Master Chief helmets that come with the Halo 3 legendary edition. You're probably thinking they should have been wearable in the first place, but hey now you can do it yourself. It doesn't look very easy, because you have to take apart the whole helmet, but it's a solution to the ever-growing complaints that people want to wear the little helmets. Bungie’s confirmed that Halo 3: Recon has been renamed to Halo 3: ODST.
No reason’s been given for the move.
As the firm points out through the link, ODST stands for Orbital Drop Shock Trooper, one of which is followed through New Mobasa in the game.

Bungie has announced a slight name change for the upcoming expansion to Halo 3. The developer thinks the new title better suits the role you'll assume in the game.

Found these sweet pics on the Halo 3 forums of the Recon Armor that has a fire helmet (yea, it's really on fire).
