Perhaps feeling a little aggrieved at the way Modern Warfare 2 blew right on by Halo 3's sales numbers earlier in the week, Microsoft have tried to salvage a little pride by releasing some Halo 3: ODST numbers. And, all things considered, they're not bad. Since launching on September 22, ODST has sold just over three million units, having sold 1.5 of those in its first month on sale. Halo: ODST, another great Halo game by Bungie, wastes no time in literally dropping you straight into combat, with six hours of comical and hard-hitting game play. Unlike the previous Halo games, you are no longer playing as the legendary Master Chief. Instead, you are a rookie Orbital Drop Shock Trooper, or ODST.  

Starting today, Xbox 360 owners will be able to visit Halo Waypoint, a new destination on Xbox LIVE, and the “virtual home for all things Halo.” Not only will Halo Waypoint act as a ‘career’ tracking system, recording players’ achievements across Halo 3, Halo 3: ODST and Halo Wars, you’ll also be rewarded for accomplishing certain feats in the games with extra Xbox LIVE Avatar content, such as virtual shirts and ODST armour. While our cats have been enjoying the comfort of Halo helmets for years now, the human market is sadly underserved. At least one human will be well protected, thanks to this Halo 3 ODST motorcycle helmet. I'm hoping that that's not his real name, as the NDA he most likely signed would prohibit the screen capture of gameplay from what appears to be "Halo: Reach," but his risk is our gain, as he [...]  

Not many people have earned all the achievements possible from Halo 3, Halo Wars and Halo 3: ODST, as evidenced by the statistics Microsoft dug up while developing Halo Waypoint. "Significantly less" than 1% of players have unlocked all the achievements. This is just a quick public service announcement to remind all the Halo fans out there today that the first episode of Halo Legends is available on Halo Waypoint today. Entitled "The Babysitter," it tells the story of a squad of ODST soldiers on a mission to assassinate a Covenant Prophet. The only catch is that a Spartan has been assigned to lead the squad. ODSTs and Spartans don't necessarily get along, so things get a little complicated...
