ARLINGTON, Texas - The Texas Rangers promoted former catcher Jim Sundberg to senior executive vice-president Friday.

ANAHEIM, Calif. – Hank Blalock homered in his fifth straight game to trigger a seven-run second inning against John Lackey and the Texas Rangers routed the AL West champion Los Angeles Angels 12-1 on Friday night.  

Jim Sundberg, who turned 57 in May, is officially a senior. Rangers president Nolan Ryan added the "senior" label to Sundberg's executive vice president's job Friday.
