Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows

The last in the Harry Potter series by JK Rowling. Plans are to use recycled paper to print the book.

How much would you pay for a Harry Potter prequel?

Jkrowling

J.K. Rowling wrote an 800-word prequel to her Harry Potter books with the intent of selling it at auction for charity.

The winning bid was $48,858 which means the absent bidder paid more than $59 a word for the short story during the event at the flagship of Waterstone’s book store chain in London. The whole story was able to fit on the front and back of a piece of paper only a little bigger than a postcard.

The prequel is set three years before Harry is born and features the characters Sirius Black and James Potter, Harry’s father. They get into trouble with a policeman before escaping with broomsticks, drumsticks and a little bit of magic.  But don't get your hopes up for another Potter book, Rowling finished her card by writing, ‘‘From the prequel I am not working on — but that was fun!’’

The short story and the others that were sold at auction will be available online and will be compiled into a book to be sold later.
