UK Prime Minister Gordon Brown faced an open attack from within his Cabinet yesterday for the “lamentable” failure by his Government to communicate with voters. Hazel Blears (pictured above), the Blairite Secretary of State for Communities, said New Labour’s reputation had suffered a “titanic battering” in recent weeks and warned of “dire consequences” if it did not reconnect with the public. Ms Blears also ridiculed the PM’s uncomfortable performance on the internet last week by saying... Read Full Story
by johnofgwent. Ah, Sunday Morning again, and a May Bank Holiday too. A pity the planned BNP stall in the street a little way up the road had to be called off, but resources were needed elsewhere. But it's on the matter of the stalls and leaflets that I want to speak. They must be working because they are clearly giving our opposition a run for their money as can be seen from the outpourings of the delightful Hazel Blears. To look at the unflattering images and news coverage Hazel gets these... Read Full Story
Hazel Blears promised to pay back £13,332 which she would have paid in capital gains tax when she sold one of her homes. She said it was her wish to rebuild trust with the British people. She declared a flat in Kennington South London as her primary residence so that she was able to avoid paying capital gains tax on the £45,000 profit she made on the sale of the property however she told the commons authorities it was her second home entitling her to claim hundreds of pounds in expenses. She... Read Full Story

"I wonder what foot this one goes on." Doh! This will be the only article I will be posting today as I do not wish to detract from the excellent article posted by Mister Fox that precedes this post. Communities Minister Hazel Blears made a speech yesterday to the Hansard Society in which she criticised political bloggers in the UK. "Political blogs are written by people with disdain for the political system and politicians, who see their function as unearthing scandals, conspiracies and... Read Full Story
Former communities secretary Hazel Blears said on Friday that she regretted the timing of her resignation from the cabinet, on the eve of local and European elections. Blears sparked anger within the Labour Party by resigning the day before this month's elections, a move largely seen as a protest against embattled Prime Minister Gordon Brown. Read Full Story
As much as I hate the smug bitch that is Hazel Blears, the Communities Secretary actually had something constructive to say yesterday. She said that she thinks that "British values must be defended". I think this is a very brave thing to announce because as you might expect it will cause a great deal of unrest amongst the ranks of people and different groups that make up our society who appear to be constantly campaigning for a society that is anything but British. I say, well done. I for... Read Full Story

Hazel Blears has had her car attacked. She came back from a spot of canvassing and found her Citroen Xsara Picasso was minus a windscreen and had all its tyres slashed. She blames it on bored kids. Many of her constituents think differently. I can just imagine Hazel on the doorstep yesterday. Did it go something like this? [Hazel] Hello, love. I'm Hazel Blears, your hard working, local Labour MP. Do you have any issues you would like to raise with me? [Constituent] Well, my husband lost his... Read Full Story
