Having head lice is very common and home remedies for head lice are much in demand. It affects all social classes and have absolutely nothing to do with personal hygiene. Lice like clean heads even more then dirty ones and there is nothing shameful about being infected.

As any "bug" in this world will tell you, the more exposure to certain chemicals the more resistant they get. It is like us humans with the antibiotic thing. The more exposure/use of antibiotics we have the less effective they are at helping us when we are sick. It is the same with head lice.
