As I’ve gotten more nutrition conscious and doing what I can to ensure that the food we eat is nutrient-dense, the question of microwaves has been on my mind. Does microwaving our food kill it? Are the nutrients zapped right out? I have felt (without actual evidence) that microwaving probably does remove nutrients. I’ve gradually moved away from thawing, reheating or cooking most food in the microwave. However, statistics show that 90% of us here... Read Full Story

Alright, I understand, this sounds like a lot of hyperbole, but when you're finished with this article, I think you'll agree, just hang with me for a minute. As I was perusing the web to find information on breakfast, I had one of those grand moments of revelation - kind of like when Louis Pasteur accidentally discovered the principle for vaccination or when Alexander Fleming, purely by chance, produced the first batch of Penicillin, I found a hidden jewel-a Rosetta stone for food-which... Stress is an element of everyday life. A little stress can be beneficial as it provides a boost of energy to motivate us to complete tasks. Some people deal with daily stress differently. Some emotionally eat, smoke, and/or drink, just to name a few... Read Full Story

Who loves going to the movies? I do. I love the movie theatre atmosphere. All of the people congregating together within an isolated theatre to watch the same movie is exciting. I especially love it when watching a comedy. Hearing the sounds and varieties of laughter is so much fun.

If I had to pick one health hero, it would have to be a couple, my Grandmother and Grandfather, Alice and Tom (AKA Grandma and Grandpa C). Although both have passed, their lives epitomized a healthy balance. One of healthy eating, love, simple living, and plenty of family and friendship.
Not that there weren’t any struggles. Grandma lost her first husband in a tragic accident when a bridge gave out beneath his vehicle, leaving her alone with two small children. She eventually... Read Full Story
My wife likes to go to bed late and I like to wake up early, to get these articles posted before my readers dig into their morning media. And now, new research from Northwestern University helps to explain why this may be causing my pants to not fit as well around the waist as they used to. This research is creating mounting evidence that how much sleep you get can be a predictor for how much extra weight you will carry. This is not only true for adults, but as it turns out for kids...
