Preprocessed food Adds Up .

Non-nutritious junk food has taken over the Yankee diet ? Much to everyone?s detriment. Desserts, for instance, at a shocking average 12.3% of calories, are now the most typical single food in the national diet.

Sweets, colas and alcohol now make up virtually 20 5 % of the total calories consumed by adults in this country. When you add salty snacks and fruit flavored drinks, it adds up to virtually one 3rd of all calories. And that?s not even counting stuff like pizza, burgers, hot dogs, French fries, high fat dairy products and white bread and pasta.

Dr. Gladys Block, professor of Epidemiology and Public Health Nourishment at the College of California Berkeley, who published her latest study in the Journal of Food Composition and research, was shocked by the results. ?We knew it was bad,? Related Dr. Block, ?but we didn?t know it was this bad.

It?s now clear why, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, over 60% of U.S.

The research didn?t include the eating patterns of young folk. ?If I was to look separately at teens and young adults, it would be much worse,? Block asserted.

Americans, for the main part, are simply overstuffed and undernourished. ?Obviously we want to stress about weight,? Dr. The message isn?t solely to eat less, but to eat differently.?

If you?re interested in better health or improving your eating habits, you can begin by replacing non-nutritious food with added non-starchy vegetables, fruits, whole grains, low-fat dairy products, fish, and lean poultry.

Start by taking small steps. Each new step will move you forward and finally a healthier, happier, more vibrant lifestyle.
