After allowing him to hit the free agent market and make some visits, the Vikings re-signed Heath Farwell last week to a three-year $7.75 million contract. While this move has gone largely unnoticed in a week where many teams have committed to hundreds of millions of dollars worth of player contracts, I contend that re-signing Farwell could be the best move the Vikings make all offseason. The Minnesota Vikings signed linebacker and special teams standout Heath Farwell to a three-year, $7.75 million contract on Friday. The deal includes $3.25 million guaranteed, and keeps one of the team's most productive players on the kick coverage and return units in Minnesota. The Pioneer Press reports that the Vikings could be losing special-teams ace Heath Farwell. Here is the report from today’s edition: Heath Farwell will be a free agent in nine days, and the Vikings’ special-teams ace intends to test the waters. “I like it here a lot,” Farwell said Tuesday. “I like my coaches and teammates. The Vikings have come to terms with linebacker Heath Farwell on a multi-year contract. He resumes his career with the Vikings after playing there for the last three seasons. Minnesota Vikings special teams standout Heath Farwell is questionable for the game against the Detroit Lions with a hamstring injury. Farwell was injured in the season opener against the Cleveland Browns. He has been limited in practice all week. He missed all of last season with a knee injury, one of the main reasons the Vikings struggled on special teams last year.
