After months of negotiations, both Paul Reiser and Helen Hunt have inked deals with Sony Pictures Television to reprise their beloved roles on Mad About You for a revival. Co-creator Danny Jacobson is also on board to return, and that's definitely a good sign. The original series aired on NBC from 1992-1999 and was a runaway hit.

Mad About You follows the hilarious antics and major life struggles of a married couple living in NYC. Reiser plays Paul Buchman, a documentary filmmaker, and Hunt is his better half, Jamie Stemple Buchman, a PR specialist.

The revival will be set in present day and will follow Paul and Jamie's lives after Mabel, their 17-year-old daughter, is accepted into college. The series finale will be disregarded since it featured a two-decade time leap. This narrative choice is in line with how Roseanne and Will & Grace tossed their series finales out the window.

It's important to note, however, that Mad About You does not have a home yet. The series is being shopped around, and, given the bombastic success of Roseanne and Will & Grace, we're sure it'll be snatched up in no time.

During its seven-season run, Mad About You was a massive hit for NBC. The series garnered a Golden Globe, a Peabody Award, and multiple Emmy nominations. In fact, Hunt snagged the Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series four years in a row!

Given how close the cast remains, it's not surprising the revival has been greenlit.  "The dream is to get to do it," Hunt revealed in an interview with People. "I've been watching Will & Grace and laughing so hard out loud, they're just crushing it. I have remained very, very close friends with Paul. Reboot, or no reboot we have lunch once a month. We really enjoy and care for each other. It was a very loving piece of work. We loved it. It would be fun to work on something that's really about love. We'll be older though — I hope people are prepared for that. I'm not prepared for it!"
