Credit Suisse upgraded Hewlett-Packard Co. on Tuesday, calling a bottom to its printer business and pointing out improving demand for computer hardware. In a client note, Credit Suisse analyst Bill Shope upgraded the stock to "outperform," from "neutral." Shope said his previous rating was based on concerns over the cyclical downturn in the printing business, brought on by tighter information technology budgets during the recession. BOSTON (Reuters) - Oracle Corp has ended a high-profile computer-building partnership with Hewlett-Packard Co as Oracle prepares to acquire Sun Microsystems Inc, a rival of HP. Sun, the world's No. 4 server maker, and Oracle have jointly developed a second-generation version of a specialized database computer, dubbed Exadata. Oracle and HP launched the first version a year ago. Hewlett-Packard Co. said Thursday it has elected Marc Andreessen to serve on its board. Andreessen is co-founder and general partner of venture fund Andreessen Horowitz and co-founder and chairman of Ning, a privately held social networking Web site. His election brings to 11 the number of HP directors, the company said. Andreessen served as chief technology officer of America Online Inc. and was a co-founder of Netscape Communications Corp., serving in various positions, including chief technology officer and executive vice president of products.
